Smoot was one of the guitarists for GWAR, and part of their main lineup since the production/release of War Party. He was found dead on the band's tour bus in North Dakota last week. Apparently the band's carrying on with the tour they were doing at the time, but they'll be officially retiring Flattus Maximus, the character he played, out of respect. No details about the circumstances of his death have been released yet. He was 34.

Yeah, it sucks, but hopefully it ushers in a new era for the band. Cory was a cool guy, and I've talked to him many times in person, but I've never liked his music. I saw Mensrea at the GWAR-B-QUE last summer and they were abysmal.

Lordi is the European knockoff variety. Though their old albums are great, I'd say the new crap is just as bad as Lordi.
