How long have you waited?

well, you asked the question, I have to answer, first just let me say, I was NOT complaining in your precious thank you thread, I was responding to someone, and to answer your question, I am a 3DR forums veteran that has been posting since earlier this year, watching since late 90's, and I have been waiting for DNF for over ten years, literally every single week checking for new info, so, no, I'm not one of the 13 year olds running around this forum.

It was pleasure to hear that Gearbox decided to do it. Would it be better if careless indies would make it -no.
Thank you Gearbox, i hope you will notdisappoint us all at all!

Duke Nukem Forever is still a 3D Realms game and that is why i know it will be amazing. It is their final AAA swansong and the Single Player campaign is all of their content (Triptych included). It may of taken (excuse the pun) "Forever" for DNF to be made but I give credit when credit is due. Thank you 3D Realms and everyone who was ever involved with the project including George Broussard for pouring your hearts and souls into this one game. I like many here grew increasingly annoyed over the long, torturous decade+ wait but it will all be worth it in the end. You have all created a legendary game and franchise that is dearly loved and you should all be proud for what has been achieved.

Despite all the trouble that happened during development you guys stuck to your guns and almost pulled off the impossible. It was extremely unfortunate that the last hurdle couldn't be overcome by yourselves alone.

Randy Pitchford and Gearbox software I can't thank you enough for saving the ultimate gaming icon and ass-kicker from an antagonising demise. You saw an opportunity to help good friends and a "hero" in their time of need. Sure you may benefit financially from your move to save Duke Nukem but we know that is not the sole reason you swooped in to clean up the carnage of DNF. You care about Duke Nukem as much as we do and you wanted it to see the light of day. Without your funding, respectibility in the industry and your relationship with Take 2 and 3D Realms this could simply not of happened.

You are giving DNF the final polishing it needs and also creating the multiplayer component. You are also making DNF as accessible to the public as possible by releasing it on video game consoles too. That is a good thing. We can also see the passion for the franchise within the company. Every time Randy speaks you know that the Duke Nukem franchise is in good hands and will be greatly taken care of. Gearbox has also taken the required steps to make sure Duke Nukem will always stick to its roots. You hired true gaming heroes Triptych software and have also included George Broussard in a Consulting (Not project leader) role and that is the best move yet.

The guys at Triptych games I do not know where to start. I couldn't make this any simpler; Without your true dedication and hardwork without funding there would not be a Duke Nukem Forever. Your continued underground development of DNF is truly heroic. To Allen Blum and the rest of the team you guys get my biggest thanks of all!

Gearbox has also given DNF a true release date. In early 2011 Duke Nukem Forever is actually coming out! You have made all of our video game dreams come true. This is quite possibly the greatest gaming feel good story ever conceived. The impossible is possible. ;)

This should be renamed to Protozoid Slimer Thread. ;)
(Would add an interesting double meaning in my language btw.)

First of all I'd like to thank 3D Realms because they helped me saving lots of money. When DNF was first announced in 1997 I told myself "Once it's out I'm gonna buy a computer that will run it smoothly." Well, my 486/133 lasted until 2001. ;)

Since my current PC is four years old you might guess what I'm thinking about ... so I'd like to thank Gearbox for either giving me the game or saving my bucks.

Gearbox saved my dream from dying!

I never gave up on DNF! It was one of the things in my life I was/am realy caring for! True heroes never die! We can be very happy that Duke is not also the coolest gaming character ever but also such a comercial success! If GBX havn't believed in a comercial success of the Duke franchise they probably had never made the deal!
In the end this means quality that the majority of gamers can see and accept will always lead to comercial success! And that is why Duke will prevail and will shake up the gaming world after 13 years of hiatus! He is the king, and will always be! FOREVER!

I love to see that GBX made the deal! Randy is sooo full of Duke love it nearly makes me shead a tear! With the upcoming worldwid huge success of DNF when released GBX will be in a unique and outstanding position in the industry. GBX will be on par with ID, Blizzard and those others! They have a goldmine now! Milk it with care! ;)

THANKS Randy, GBX, Triptych and 3DR for making the dream of gaming history come true!
You will be remembered FOREVER!

Thanks gearbox, for finally allowing DNF to see the light of day. I've waited a large chunk of my life for this (I'm 17), and it's finally coming.

May 8th 2009 was a miserable day for me and all other DNF followers. 12 years for.......nothing!

Then on September 3rd 2010, it was like the rainbow after the rain (yeah I know that sounds quite undukelike).

I am very, VERY appreciative for all the effort the guys and gals at Gearbox Software have been putting into keeping this revival a secret, giving us a glimpse of DNF alive and well, and eventually delivering on what all DNF fans have been waiting for.....a chance to kickass and chew bubblegum!

So thank you Gearbox Software. Others might not be so appreciative right now, but that'll change in 2011.

Keep up the good work.

Treptych are the ones most responsible for getting this game out to us. That they continued work on it
basically out of their garages and were able to get it to a point where Gearbox could come in and bring it together, that's
awesome.

And let's face it, 3drealms basically had *most* of the game finished before the bad news hit.

I'm so glad that George and Scott set egos aside with Take2 and were able to get Gearbox involved to come up
with the "creative" solution to the situation. If George and Scott hadn't done this, we wouldn't be talking about pre-orders
and playable demos right now. George let his baby go and everyone....EVERYONE will benefit from it. It really was a win
for everyone like he said and I'm glad he saw this. I never lost faith in him. I knew somehow, someway he'd find a way
to get the game to us. He's taken his share of grief over the years, he deserves praise in this too.

And a huge thanks to Gearbox of course! I'm still a bit sore over the PAX "reveal" and still no trailer but I do realize
they are a business first and foremost and I'm not running it. ;) So I'm ok with that.

Kaisersoze, this post reflects my same feelings towards the whole situation, including the way Gearbox/2K revealed Duke @ PAX (No kick ass Trailer, crappy video coverage and no high resolution images of the game) But that aside I would like to thank 3D Realms, Treptych Games, Gearbox, and Piranha Games for the hard and dedicated work to finally release DNF to the Fans. They certainly kick ass and chew bubblegum!!
