No Sentry Drone mod?

Is there a mod out there that removes these enemies from Duke Nukem 3D altogether? I hate those fucking things: they do not seem to serve any purpose beyond being annoying and I feel like the game as a whole would be much more enjoyable without them.

LOL here's your mod, just paste this code into one of the CON files that is loaded after the tile definitions:

Alternatively you can alter their hit points and damage values. I personally run a 2/3 health/double damage mod for them.

However, doing so replaces Sentry Drones with Assault Troopers in a blue armor, which I do not recall ever seeing in vanilla Duke Nukem 3D. What are those?

Blue is the default palette 0 color. They are normal. For some reason, the game is hardcoded to change pal 0 troopers to pal 12 (not sure on the number). But that hack applies after spawning, so the hardcoding doesn't kick in and they stay pal 0. The only pal in the vanilla game that actually makes a difference to gameplay is 21 (red).

Oh. For a moment, I thought they were supposed to be the Assault General variant from Total Meltdown.

Is it me or the Assault Troopers that spawn in place of the Sentry Drones are sometimes tougher than the vanilla Assault Troopers?

Like, from time to time, I found myself fighting one that requires three shotgun blasts to die rather than one.

Hmm, it's possible that by the time EVENT_SPAWN occurs, it has already set their health amount based on the DRONE health amount. Try Fox's code instead.

That's because during EVENT_SPAWN the properties are already applied. You have a Liztroop with the palette and hit points of a Sentry Drone.

Thatís not necessarily a bad thing from an ammo balance perspective. I think he just hates that fact that the drones blow up in your face and take away health without much warning.

Frankly, if I knew how, I would replace Drones by Total Meltdown's Assault Generals, for consistency's sake.

While the OP's been banned, I might as well throw this here: Here's a script JBlade walked me through that removes Slimers, while also handling trashcans and RESPAWN sprites that spawn them. This wouldn't be too hard to rejig to remove or replace whatever actor you want.

Not all that much different from the one-line scripts posted ITT, just a fraction more thorough. :)
