I just thought I'd update this thread to let you guys know that Duke4.net 2.0 is very well underway and will move onto a Beta testing stage possibly by the end of this month. A lot of new features (mostly technical) will be available in the new version, including heavy usage of Javascript and some Flash. Also, new implemented security enhancements will enable us to block hackers and spam more efficiently.
Some features you can expect:
- 100% rewritten, all new website code
- New theme which improves the website look while significantly decreasing page load times as a result of more optimized (and condensed) code and art
- Ability to customize site theme per individual user
- Improved RSS Feeds
- Bookmark feature for news items through various external services (StumbleUpon, Digg, etc)
- PDF generation of all news content
- Ajax powered, dynamic menus
- ...and many more features!
We're still looking for a new, faster, more reliable host, though Edge Network has been excellent thus far. If anyone can offer assistance in that area, we'd greatly appreciate it.

Any chance you'd consider putting up some DN3D modding forums?
I would, if enough people were interested.

i have a suggestion,

LOL.........
People that ask to be a moderator should not ever be a mod. I also dislike places that you can "buy" your moderation. It is something that should be earned and entrusted with.
Anyhow, for my suggestion this site needs to completely get away from the DNF feel.
Each time I look at the main page it scream "DUKE NUKEM FOREVER"
There are now a lot of new members that frequent the forums but only for the sake of EDuke32/Duke Nukem 3D and couldn't give a rats ass about DNF and the ordeal that is going with it.
D4N needs to expand more and get away from DNF stuff, I see a lot of good DN3D content that should be posted about on the main site etc but yet it gets shoved aside just because some man said "Ive got balls of aluminum"

You are complaining about something from nearly 2 years ago, let it go.

That's what happens when someone bumps year old threads, so thank you for continuing to bump it.

It was just a silly name for some updates.
I've thought about that, duke4.net/duketube Would be sweet. Or Duketube.net
But it's hard to stay motivated, when there isn't a AAA game to back the site up.

All this site needs is some advertising. A lot of people won't play Duke 3D because of the graphics; they don't know about Polymer, DukePlus and the HRP. If we pump stuff like this on sites like Youtube or Facebook, we may be able to get more people to play the game and reinvigorate the community.

Thread necromancy!
In all seriousness as the site is moving forward Duke4.Net v3.0 (well, 2.5 at least) is in order.
The site should have less of a DN4E focus and more of a Duke3D mod focus. Post mod and map activity to the front page, have a ticker of sorts for hosted site updates, newly uploaded maps/mods, new forum posts, etc. Duke4 should also host dedicated servers if possible when the new EDuke32 net code is closer to being finished.

There are RSS feeds on both our main site and on the forums. Firefox should automatically detect it, but here are the links:

I can find the RSS link on the forums but I can't find that anywhere on the front page of the site.. the RSS icon might be something you wanna add to the mix (or maybe you have it and I'm blind)

OK, I need to say this because it has become bothersome:
Why is the spoiler tag lame?
[spoiler]I can't hide anything but black text. If I were to write in pink it shows up. And
also shows up. I think pictures get shown too which kind of defeats the purpose.
I vaguely remember there being a better version of the spoiler tag that did hide contents and then when a button was clicked the contents were revealed. I would like to see that come back so I can post more spoilers that actually spoil things.

The spoiler button you're referring to was a plugin RedSplat has installed on our older version of Invision Board. I'll have to ask him what it was called to see if there's one available for our current build.
