Duke Nukem Forever release date decrypted

It's 29th January 2011.

Why?
Well, it was all there - GBX said "2011" but what they didn't say was, which calendar are they using, so I assumed Maya calendar, as they were always correct in the past.
And here is the converter:

The image itself is pretty self explanatory, the only problematic part was the correlation constant: 02441170, so here we go:
if you convert it from HEX to ASCII, you'll find out that most of the characters are escape chars:

Well and we all know what Dp means:
Duke's playtime:

29th January 2011 is not just a random date - it's 15 years after Duke Nukem 3D had been released.

All calculations are repeatable and verifiable - tools used:

yes, as far as we know now it's coming out 1st February 2011 officially, maybe my estimate for unofficial release will be filled up :)

If it wasn't true GameStop wouldn't pop up any date like like Amazon did. The thing is that they're talking with retailers maybe even each retailer offered different release date in year 2011 and GS offered them 1st February 2011 and they just put it on website - remember Randy Pitchford made himself clear that he is not going to make any more jokes about it.

official in meaning it's available on market , I said official because it's quite common that other ways it's available earlier.

By proxy of the fact that dukenukem.com links to that preorder. You would think the information would be accurate for their customers, right?

I just don't understand why they would link their potential customers to a site that gives a false date, doesn't make any sense

that's what I'm actually talking about and honestly i feel like they can't make up their mind:
it's like this:
a/ omg we want preorders and money now
b/ omg forget preorders wait a little and try to tease them a bit more so more players are gonna buy it

and they just can't make up their mind so they are trying to have both and it looks just ridiculous.

and this posted a while ago only adds to the pool of confusion:

we don't want to make any dates & promises because we want to tease you, while we want to support two of our favorite retailers, man I don't know if I should laugh or cry :)

I don't care if they're denying the date, they're just afraid of having to break their promise.

It's February 1st. :)

The problem with DNF is that if they set a release date, they HAVE to stick to it. If they fail to meet that date, they will be marked with that stigma. It is impossible to give a date for DNF that you can't 110% guarantee you will hit.

2/11/2011 is a Tuesday, aren't 99% of games released on tuesday anyway?

What? Why Tuesday? Who the hell keeps track of that?....why?

Why bother speculating?

This actually leads me to something: why the hell are people going to do when the game is released? There will be nothing left to speculate on...

and besides they haven't even begun Beta testing yet, according to someone around here, can't remember who they just started sending out tester emails, so they haven't even begun hiring testers yet. Testing a game takes a LONG time, and you really never know what bugs you'll find, this is usually the time when release dates are pushed back and this is probably why we will be waiting awhile longer before we get said release date.

As far as I can tell Amazon had the Feb 1st release date before Gamestop did. But I could be wrong.

Most new movie, music and game releases are on Tuesday. One thing I read was sales/marketing chart figures. Other one was shipments. But it's nothing that's set in stone so not all new releases are out on a Tuesday.

But considering a mass majority are... it makes sense to think the release date would be on a Tuesday. :)

Also, Feb 1st is a Tuesday. :)

and what do you think Beta testing is?

The game is done, and now testers need to come in and try and break it. When they do the team goes behind them and fix the breaks. Depending on the severity of the breaks found, it could push the launch date back some, which is why they're reluctant to give us a date since I'm sure they don't know exactly how buggy this game is yet. Beta testing takes months.

not necessarily, Microsoft with their Windows Vista proves otherwise - released ASAP, beta testing has been done by paying customers, with SP1 the whole core has been changed and when they got in corner with no way out and all that bad reputation has been cleaned with Windows 7.

Which is basically Windows Vista SP1 :) and the true product is Windows server 2008 (core derivated from Windows 7 - after millions paying customers did beta testing :)
