Experience of playing Duke Nukem Forever  "Duke Nukem Forever Demo Preview"

#1

It is a long time for us to expect the coming of Duke Nukem Forever. In fact, Gearbox Software has already released some media and a demo, which was playable at PAX 2010. and i got a chance to Experience the Duke Nukem Forever demo:

Nice. I wonder how it would be to play the demo of that game. I´m really upset with 3d realms but i must aknowledge i´ve even dreamed about playing DNF once.

Plagman was at PAX. It'd actually be quite nice if he could write a review for the frontpage.

You know, during my years I've noticed something very interesting and paradoxical. It seems that whenever somebody loves something, after that something is over, he waits for more and he is willing to wait for it a very long time!(In our case this would be the 14 years for DN3D sequel) Now here's the fucked up part! When that something finally seems to get close to release, everybody that waited for it for a long time, suddenly wants to hate it so they don't admit to themselves that they actually waited for that thing so much and now that it's coming it's actually what they needed to keep going.
I think this is an involuntary automated addiction rejection with a personal hypocritical nuance that everybody tries to hide from the outside word and from themselves.

Translation for noobs.
Short version of this is. I noticed that some people, sometimes myself included, try to find reasons for something to suck even if they are hard to be found.
Why do people do this? I guess it's because lots of fans fear that the new game won't be as good as the last one was and they also have expectations for it to fail because almost every sequel to great games has manged to fuck up, take mafia 2 for ex.

Prior to people playing it, I seen the biggest criticism over the potential for dated graphics and a dated interface. A lot of people were expecting it to look outdated.

Now that people have played it, I haven't seen anyone make those complaints. I could tell by watching the video stream that it played wonky as hell with the controller on PC. Something I'm sure they'll smooth out for XBox play :D

I have. On a local forum.

Joe started a "Gamers Review" thread over on the board, and there now has been several game site reviews... It looks great from what people say.
I dunno, I was expecting some kind of "dated" criticism... and where are the usual "it looks like crap" threads? so far none. please provide links, because so far the criticism I've seen has not been for the expected "it looks dated".

Idk about the "it looks dated" but I've definitely heard people saying "the graphics need a polish," although that's not necessarily the same thing. The graphics could still be perfectly up to date but imcomplete. I'm just not sure what they mean exactly.

I think the Duke truck could use polish :D

Something about it goes back 5 years or something, but it doesn't seem to be any kind of critical gameplay element so I'll probably like it just fine.

I don't want super graphics. Actually, that would mean I can't play the game on my computer. I want the game to be as FUN as the original. Easter eggs, wacky enemies, great ambience sounds, space and city levels, shrinker, freezer etc return, maybe security cameras as well, secret places to visit and such. With a much needed update in the reality factor of course, and some new, but well fitting features added. I would be disappointed if Bombshell or Gus doesn't make an appearance.

Sometimes yourself? You have been the most negative person on the forum with regard to DNF.
