I was wondering this too but more along the lines of now that it seems they own the duke IP and everything is it possible they'll actually get to do duke begins? with most of this game done by 3DR i don't think we can tell whether or not gearbox would do the duke IP any justice because they're pretty much just polishing it at this point.
But the good news is the people working on DNF are mostly made up of people that had previously worked on DNF and worked for 3DR as far as my understanding goes, so hopefully it will be in their best interest to make sure that the duke IP is done justice and not turned something where people go "Remember when duke nukem actually used to have decent games?"

Joe was told to add glasses to the classic Duke games for Duke's biography on 3D Realms. So i'd find that unlikely.

Yeah man but isn't it a bit fucking wrong to put out a game that you are going to sell without changing the leaked plot or the leaked assets, after the entire world has seen shitloads upon shitloads of leaked screenshots and gameplay and art design and beta animations and everything that makes a game in the end?
Not to mention all those leaked videos , including the sewer one where he kicks that pig in the face with one of the worst kick animations that I've ever seen!
Another thing that I noticed I don't quite like about this new game is the animations for melee and reloading.
Some things just looked bad in the leaked media and after seeing the pax demo I've seen lots of shit that was already leaked hasn't been changed!
Like the buggy or the pistol for ex. They look the same.
And could it be that the DNF ripper has been left unchanged from the version that sucked so bad ?
I remember that everybody hated how the ripper looked in the leaked screens and video and everybody was hoping that they will improve it or change it completely.

However, given that most levels were 60-80% done, there is time to amend the story. Some levels were as low as 50% or even 0% in the case of the last level.

Why? Tell me one good reason. Why do you think Gearbox know what they are doing?
And why do you think another game is coming after this?
Did you know that if this game flops there are chances that nobody will ever want to see a new Duke game even if it will be actually good?
To be honest, I would really like to see this game get high sales because that will mean we will get to see a new duke nukem game dones 100% by gearbox!
We will get to see how a Duke game done by gearbox could be. For all we know it could be better or worse!
At this point I see them bragging with things they haven't done according former DNF devs so what makes you say that?

seriously, who cares - after last restart of development in '01, it became console retarded and it doesn't really matter if the retardation is done by 3DR or GBX.
First of all - I'm huge fan of DN3D (I bought it at GOG) and also graduate from university of economics, so let's do the maths:
You can be more than sure that they release DNF in early 2011 for $50 (no later than February).
As we could see in leaked footage it was planned to have 25 levels. What we actually are going to get would be no more than 15 levels (mark my words!).
In March/April we will get $15 DLC (3 levels), after that in May/June one more DLC for $15 (3 levels). And finally in August/September last DLC for $95 (last 4 levels). Oh wait wasn't it DNF for 50+15 ... 65 ... +15 ... 80 ... +15 ... $95?
So now we have September 2011 and back in '90 it was time when the price of the game dropped to about half ~ $30.
No way, "Here you go DNF Game of the year (GOTY) edition for just only $50." It's the deal!!!
Thrust me, I would not want anything more, than being wrong this time and feel free to discuss this theory

This is very silly man. They will not release levels by dlc.
If they ever make any dlc for the game, it will be maybe for mp or for other things.
I really doubt they will give out levels as dlc for the single player, this is not borderlands this is a linear fps game.
I can tell you for fact that they won't release the game with just 15 levels because we have seen level 15 at pax already which means that they showed us the last level in a demo? That doesn't sound very likely to happen.
I don't know if the game will have 25 levels or less but if it has less then stuff definitely got changes and it will remain changed forever.
There won't be dlc to add new levels because that would be very stupid and nobody would like that!

How do you know it was made for consoles after '01? Seriously, where's your facts, i wouldn't be asking if this was common knowledge.
Also, we don't know really anything about DNF yet so stop making stuff up, thats how rumors are spread. Btw, new games are $60 bucks now.

Somebody wrote a hint about it at DNF.com forums; and because everyone knows that the main income comes from consoles now, it's the platform which leads the way now I think that;s common knowledge - see top 25 selled games on Amazon 80% of them are XBOX360/PS3; for PC it saves only WoW.
DNF is available for $49.99:

So your just spreading someone elses rumor then.
Also, its alot easier to pirate a PC game then a console game. Thats probably why less games are coming to the PC, its because of the people who play games on PC and don't pay. You can't really blame companys for moving to consoles if more people do that on PC.
#30 Posted 06 September 2010 - 03:22 PM
Anyway:
You can't claim that piracy is an actual cause of low PC sales. No sales are actually lost to piracy. If a PC/potential pirate can't or won't buy a game, they won't buy a game so them pirating it isn't a lost sale: it is just another person playing that game and who could potentially buy the next game that you make if they like it. It is total bullshit to play the piracy card to defend the shift to console gaming. The real loss of income comes from used game sales (something that is actually more prevalent on consoles).
I have actually played a few games without paying for them and if I enjoy the game I tend to think "Oh, I liked X which was made by this company so maybe I'll like Y" this has caused me to buy more than one game. In a way, they still got their paying customer...even more so.
Also, the amazon thing is speculation of pricing. It has always been speculation of pricing. Once there is a REAL release date, there will be real prices. The publisher announces that sort of thing.
