^ Passed it after the 10 attempt it seems as he is the only person I have ever seen to be so excited about it to make a thread on a forum over it.

Don't know.

In one movie someone threw sugar in the can. Can't remember the name either.

Driving tests are pretty easy. When I got my license, I didn't even have to drive on the freeway... or in reverse. Seriously, it was pathetic. I recall that I only got marked off for one thing, and that was because I accidentally made a "Cali stop"--for those who don't know, it's a reference to how half the people here in California can't be assed to actually stop when pulling up to a red light and turning right. Anyway, I more or less drive like a fucking maniac as far as a lot of people are concerned (I'm sad to say I broke a wheel off going sideways in my first car) and they didn't seem to give a shit. I recall them making some comment about how accelerating quickly wasn't illegal.

In Australia the test is a lot harder. I hear everyone complaining about how instructors absolutely LOVE to fail you your first time to put you in your place. I know someone who was failed because they were driving over the speed limit by a one or two kilometres per hour (one kilometre per hour is less than a mile per hour) for a minute or so.

Although there's two types of tests here, one where there's a once off drive around the city and do general skills type thing, which I was just talking about, and the other where over several lessons they tick off skills such as reverse parallel parking one by one. The second method pretty much guarantees you'll get your license, although it takes a lot longer, is much more expensive, and is what I'm in the middle of right now.

I remember the time I almost ran over a parking maid. :)

I have my practical driving exam in September.. What's funny is we aren't even expected to be able to do parallel parking. This is stupid of course, because, while it's fun that they won't ask it on an exam.. it's definitely something you will have to do in real life at one point or another.

I hope I'll be better at it than my brother, he failed like 3 times or something (he blamed stress and nervosity)

With automatically shifting cars? Sure. If you're working with a stick it takes a long time to get used to it (at least it did for me).

I just passed my driving test last week! It was only 20 minutes before the new system came in where provisional licence drivers couldn't drive turbo powered cars, talk about beating the system :D
