Eduke + HRP not working (linux)

Hello,
I've installed eduke32 from karmic repos (http://wiki.eduke32..../APT_repository) and downloaded HRP v4.0 but can't get it to work. HRP zip is in ~/.eduke32/ and I launch it with -g switch (-gduke3d_hrp.zip). I see the HRP "splash" screen, but in menu and in the game the only thing I see is gray bars. I run it in 32bit mode, models and hires textures are enabled. Without HRP the game runs just fine.

I see some GL errors in the log file. What's wrong?

Thanks for answers.

eduke32.log is here:

Looks like an evil Intel graphics driver to me, try find your self a Nvidia or ATI card. Intel is generally not supported by EDuke32 and only a few support it.

But you can try run the game with the command -forcegl and see if that helps.

Nope. So I guess I'm out of luck becuase the machine is a laptop with Intel built in. :/

If you're insanely pro, you could always dismantle your laptop and put in a different graphics card.

unless the laptop's motherboard has something like an agp/pci/pci-e expansion slot, he cannot do anything

the graphics gpu he has, is built-in the chipset.

You can try upgrading your graphics driver stack to the very latest stuff, but otherwise it seems you're out of luck. Try disabling detail and glow mapping (r_detailmapping and r_glowmapping in the console).

I experienced the same issue on my Intel GMA. The solution is to disable the r_texcompr in the console. It seems that the Linux Intel driver does not handle properly the compressed textures.

I tested it both on Intel 945G and Q35 chipsets. It works like a charm even with the Polymer renderer. So no need to dismantle your laptop ;)

Yes! That's the trick! Thank you very much!
But I still have an issue. The menu itself is already running fine, but the game not... This is what I see:

If I disable "use models", then it's fine but then I see the old style pistol and stuff:

Any help?
Thanks.

Can you attach your eduke32.log after running into this particular problem? Make sure you re-enable models so that the proper error messages end up in your log.

You mean that's not even running Polymer? Sigh, this tells a lot about the sorry state of the open-source graphics drivers. Try setting r_vbos to 0 and restarting the game.

I have no idea what Polymer is but that has fixed the game! Thanks again! ;)
