Duke Nukem in MUGEN o.o;  "Yes, it's not a joke."

A friend of mine was talking about specific characters in the MUGEN fighting-game engine and at one point he brought up the existence of a Duke Nukem character which apparently had been made just as 3DR's development team was going under. He has custom sprites, but is based mostly off classic Duke3D weaponry and Duke talk. You might be interested, considering this is a Duke forum. :)

These videos are just the ones my friend gave me to show that he existed. I'm sure there's more if you bother to look. XD

This is awesome. I had tried doing this myself, but it ended up being more work than I expected.

Duke vs Batman! Haha, that was great.

Wish we had a flash version of this game.

There's also a Dopefish character for mugen. Duke vs Dopefish, someone has to put it on Youtube. :)

Hell, its about time somone does a decent Duke nukem for Mugen! He looks really good and he even has his tradmark one liners. Intersting is that he uses a mix of weapons seen in Duke Nukem 3D, Duke 64 and Zero Hour, I like it.

Hell, that makes me wish that I still had my Mugen game I put together. I had over 1GB of Data and even had charachters like Ash Willams (Yes from Evil Dead), the PRedator, Rambo, Jill Valintine and many more. I lost everything after a serve HD faliure where the whole surface of the HD got corrupted (still wonder how the hell that could happen). After that I never treid anything with Mugen again, cuz I also lost all my links and whatnot.

Seeing how I have to re-do my system once again due to heavy system errors I have, I will have to wait again for putting such a game tohether. Still, if I do, Duke Nukem will deventily be my first fighter I going to download.

Now I wish they would finally put a network code into Mugen so you can fight with up to 4 players over the net, that would be cool.

Apparently some guys have been trying to hack in netplay, to no avail. The game hasn't been officially updated for years, but there have been some hacks released.

Yeah that was pretty cool. Though I didn't find Duke's attacks to be all that interesting, at least not in the vid on the front page. Pipebomb was cool and the finishers. Chaingun looked kind of meh. Rest was cool.

Well, of course it was not updated in years, thats because Elecbyte dosent exist anymore. Still if they where able to make a WinMugen that supports new types of graphic cards and 3D effects plus all kind of other stuff, then I dont see why they cant put in a netcode. Funny fact: some modders appeaqrnetly managed to put a network code into Jagged Alliance 2 and that game was not meant to have a multiplayer modus at all. Heh, they even managed to get 3D polygon graphics in it.

Anyway, at least I hope somone will manage to figure out how to get a net support into Mugen.

Ramen4ever: dont worry, Duke Nukem will be upgraded from time to time by its creator and will add new stuff. Duke is a ranged weapon guy not a close quater combatist, thats why his moves are rather unimpressive compared to all those other, yet some moves are really neat and I always laugh my ass off wehn I see Duke charging the plasma cannon and the screen explodes. There is nothing better then that.

Well, Elecbyte actually updated his site and said "they" are working on a completely new MUGEN, that will be released when "2D is back in fashion." I don't think WinMUGEN has 3D support, the newest visual update is the ability to have high-resolution backgrounds.

Electbyte is back? I never knew that they brought the company bck from the dead and are working at Mugen again. Hurm...maybe we should ask them to finally put a network code in the game then.
